Sony PlayStation Vita to arrive in India on Feb 22, starting



In what might be the best news of the month so far for some of us, Sony India has announced it will be launching the PlayStation Vita in India at the same time as the UK – on February 22. The company has also revealed prices for the two versions of the portable console, as well as its games. 

The Sony PlayStation Vita Wi-Fi only model will be priced at Rs. 19,990, and the Wi-Fi + 3G model at RS. 24,990. Game titles are expected to range Rs. 2,200 to Rs. 2,800, according to the NDTV report. The PlayStation Vita memory cards, which replace the UMD, will come in sizes ranging from 4 to 32GB, but haven’t yet got official India prices. 

In brief, the Vita will run on a quad-core ARM Cortex A9 processor, feature SGX543MP4+ graphics; apart from multiple input interfaces from gyroscopes to touchpads, six-axis motion sensing, dual analog sticks to a 5-inch OLED capacitive touchscreen (960x544 pixels). 

The Vita also has a front and rear camera, built-in stereo speakers and microphone, GPS functionality, apart from Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR (A2DP/AVRCP/HSP), and unspecified 3G connectivity.

Sony has already announced 26 titles at launch, including such games as Lord of Apocalypse, Super Stardust Delta, Ninja Gaiden: Sigma, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Ridge Racer, WipeOut, and F1 2011. Titles expected soon after launch include SF x Tekken, MGS HD collection, Peace Walker HD, Army Corps of Hell, Zone of the Enders HD, and Final Fantasy X (remastered for the PS Vita).
